Kuring Gai LAC - NSW Police Force

Kuring Gai Local Area command covers an area of 420 sq/km and encompasses 27 suburbs, including the suburbs of Killara in the south east, Thornleigh to the south, Dural & Glenorie to the west and Brooklyn and Berowra to the north. The command also covers large areas of the Kuring-Gai Chase, Lane Cover River and Marramarra National Parks.

The command is geographically bounded by the Old Northern Road from Canoelands to Quarry Rd Dural to the west, then it crosses Pennant Hills Rd Thornleigh to the south and follows the Lane Cover River through the Lane Cover National Park and along Lady Game Drive. It then crosses the Pacific Highway at Killara and follows Middle Harbour Creek north to Cowan Creek, crosses Mona Vale Rd at St Ives and then follows Cowan Creek to the Hawkesbury River (the upper section of Broken Bay). The command then follows the southern side of the Hawkesbury River in a north westerly direction, under the F3 Freeway to Paddys Bight. From Paddys Bight the command follows Canoelands Rd back to the Great Northern Rd.

The Command is bounded by numerous LACs, including Hawkesbury, The Hills, Eastwood, North Shore, Northern Beaches and Brisbane Water.

The Hornsby CBD is defined by the boundary streets of Pacific Hwy (west side), Bridge St (north), Sherbrook Rd (east), and Edgeworth David Ave (south), at Hornsby, in the middle of the Kuring gai LAC. The defined CBD area is about 1km square and encompasses the core commercial area, main shopping centre, transport interchange, licensed premises, community services, parking, leisure, and high-rise residential development.

The above address is for the Hornsby Police Station. There are two police stations within this LAC; the other is at Gordon.

Kuring gai LAC is also involved in a bicycle road safe scheme for primary school children specifically years 5 and 6. 2 Police officers run the scheme which is called Community & Road Education Scheme (C.A.R.E.S). It is based at
